Beverly Cole is a wife, a mother, and a church woman. As a Christian and the mother of a gay son, she has worked as an eductor, an advocate, and a supporter for the gay community in society and in the Church. She works nationally with the Reconciling Parents Network of the United Methodist CHurch and is coordinator for that organization in the Kansas West Conference. She is also a member of Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG).

Beverly has told their family story to numerous church, university, professional, and civic groups and has published her experience in Cleaning Closets: A Mother's Story. Cleaning Closets has been featured on the United Methodist Women's international list of recommended reading for the Church.
